Lori Jean Wilson is a native of western Kentucky and began her academic career at Murray State University before relocating to southern California. She graduated summa cum laude from California State University Los Angeles in 2010 with a B.A. in History and from the University of Louisville, where she received the M.A. in History in 2012. Ms. Wilson’s research interests include race and gender in nineteenth and early twentieth century America, marriage customs and laws in the United States, the history of American slavery and proslavery theory, and southern intellectuals.
